Growing up in the Midwest, Mike got the bug for building as he watched the cornfields next to his house transform into busy construction sites. On any given day, you could find Mike and his brothers exploring the deserted sites after the workers left for the day. 

 

These formative experiences followed him to college where he received a degree in construction management while competing as a Division 1 athlete in swimming at Western Kentucky University.  The balance of academics and athletics taught him valuable lessons in time management, which has always informed his operating baseline of working smarter, not harder.

Out of college, Mike went straight to work for one of the largest specialty contractors in the United States, Anning-Johnson Company.  In their Atlanta office, Mike quickly cut his teeth and estimated, negotiated, and managed many landmark commercial projects while developing long lasting relationships with his customers.  

 

After 7 years of growth and fulfilling work in Atlanta, the need for change took Mike to the heart of the Rocky Mountains in Crested Butte, CO, where he strapped on a tool belt and became an accomplished carpenter leading crews on multi-million dollar custom homes. 

Crested Butte being a resort Ski town, was budding with opportunities and Mike’s employer knew he had much more to offer in the management of the business, than leading crews in the field.  Mike moved back into the office and helped build systems and processes which propelled Marr Corp. to one of Crested Butte’s premier builders.

In 2012, Mike and his now family of 4 moved back to Atlanta to manage two major commercial construction projects as a specialty contractor. During this time, he developed many processes and systems to tackle the extremely challenging projects each totaling close to 1 billion dollars. While the time back in the South was relatively short, the experiences gained and relationships made were pivotal in Mike’s career.

In 2015, Mike landed his dream job in Portland Oregon as the Director of Construction for one of the most forward thinking high-performance Design/Build firms in the country.  As a member of their senior management team, he took his skills and passion for the environment and helped implement critical business infrastructure while managing some of their largest projects, including a fully certified Living Building, Cowhorn Vineyards and Garden.  With the fruits of these efforts, Green Hammer nearly tripled their revenue during his tenure.

With these experiences, Mike reached a point in his career, where his entrepreneurial spirit and passion for sharing knowledge with others, led to the formation of Three BC in 2023. 

​

In addition to helping his clients at Three BC, Mike is also the owner of Aerial Ethos LLC, which provides accurate, reliable, and compelling drone imagery, maps, 2D/3D models, GIS Services, and inspections across an array of business sectors including the AEC industry.
